Weakley County is nestled in the northwest corner of TN. "The Western Star" and consists of 576 sq. miles, plotting 26 miles N to S and 24 miles E. to W. Weakley County has four chartered towns: Martin, Dresden, Greenfield and Gleason. There are many smaller towns and communities: Sharon, Latham, Dukedom, Mount Pelia, Ore Springs, Garner, Ralston and Palmersville. Dresden is our county seat, and Martin is our largest town.

Weakley County is home to the University of Tennessee at Martin. The university influence brings a depth of cultural, educational and recreational opportunities to Martin and county residents. UTM offers musical and theater productions, Art Council events, rock, country and spiritual concerts to area residents. A vibrant recreational complex promotes public involvement and provides a variety of venues for athletes.

A nuturing educational environment is important to Weakley County leadership. Our area has several updated school renovations with Dresden Elementary and Martin Westview High School as the latest additions. The county wide consolidation of high schools brought Sharon High School students to Martin Westview. The Dresden, Palmersville, Gleason, and Greenfield students attend schools in their town.
